The One-Minute Elder
ELDERS CHANGE THE COURSE OF THINGS
ELDERS CHANGE THE COURSE OF THINGS
Elders’ presence disrupts the default future—a future that expects older people to shrink, stay quiet, stay out of the way. Elders violate that expectation just by standing in their fullness as an Elder. Their wisdom, their steadiness, their refusal to pretend.
Elders are the breakdown of the old narrative that aging means decline.
They are the breakdown of the belief that the future belongs only to the young. They are the breakdown of the lie that wisdom is obsolete in a world of algorithms. They are the breakdown to humanity doesn’t matter.
An Elder in the room interrupts the drift. Their clarity breaks the trance. Their way of being exposes where others are sleepwalking. And in that exposure, a new opening appears.
Elders are not here to comfort the status quo. They’re here to interrupt it—gracefully, firmly, and without apology.
Because when an Elder shows up as an Elder, the old future collapses.
And a new one—larger, saner, more human—suddenly becomes possible.
That’s who Elders are: The living breakdown that gives rise to the world we actually want. And that is precisely what is needed and wanted today.

Elders as a presence in our culture is gaining a reality position. And with the volume, density, and frequency of an expanding cohort's interactions, Elder is making itself real in the world. Everyone keep on doing what you're doing, it's working!
I appreciate the comments. Nearly all agree, the wisdom of Elders is present but scattered and disconnected. People here, groups there, five entities doing their thing. But there is a phenomenon that occurs as like attracts like, until a solid bond is formed and a network becomes a presence.
