Yes, Melissa, it seems that you and James are setting up Part 2 perfectly. The timing couldn't be any better. The opportunities for Elders are expanding. And for your work on the value and possibilities of grandparenting, you are lining up your role for the future exquisitely.

James, that is what's needed. You're fullest, unadulterated self-expression. It sets up Part 2 of this two-part series brilliantly. When you become the author of the future, then life is yours.

Greetings! Marc,

With much gratitude for your wisdom over the years I will continue walking my path including building and feeding (literally) the community attracted to our regenerative farm, work to make the Green Door Folk School an endowed legacy service to our greater community, and continue to support the arts through art openings, classes, and providing studio and living space for residents and short-term residencies. I declare the ultimate goal is to share my deep dream of peace; would it be that it is highly contagious!

Highest Regards,

James

This is a provocative thought, Marc, and got me to thinking. That in itself is a dangerous miracle. To extend the question, what if it is over for more than just our country? We may well see changes of a magnitude that we cannot imagine. And yet, we, or some of us, may go one living. I for one, plan to take up tennis. Oh, I already play tennis. There may well be only two sports left to choose from––rock climbing and hunting. Maybe it's too late at night to do this.

On a more serious note, I believe that we have little chance of predicting the immensity of the coming changes. However, we can prepare for who we will be and where we will come from within those changes. As elders, I believe that what will be required is an ability to hold at once within our awareness the fragile preciousness of life's duality and the infinite wonder of spirit.

I don't think it's a 'what if...?' question anymore - and it's not just the US. The question is, can we make something better, more meaningful, more beautiful to replace what's going down.
